I moved to work
I moved to work
In a factory with higher wages
But all it did was,
Force me to live in organized cages
I lived in a small room,
Cramped with no space
But I worked day and night,
Till beads of sweat poured down my face,
I moved to work,
Hoping for a better life
But all I received,
Was pain and strife.
The smoke dancing around me is a tiger,
Choking me with all its might
Till I was as weak as a worm,
Too weak to put up a fight
Oh I miss my good old country days
Watching the sun set and rise,
With the laughter of loved ones
And the distant chirping of birds in the skies.

This poem is about industrialization which I wrote when I was in middle school. The story follows someone who has moved to work and now faces issues in a tightly packed city where he is underpaid and overworked.
