Her Duties Call

She was a careful little girl

Always cautious,

Standing in the corner ams folded

Shielding her guilt and trauma

Avoiding the direct glares of the beasts

But deep down

She craved the glares

Fell asleep dreaming of the blanket that comforted her

And woke up as the beasts themselves

Newly savaged,

The town’s most recent enemy: the aggravated beast

She was the aggravated beast

But at least she was a successful aggravated beast

A successful,

Beast

As time went on

She learnt the ways of camouflage

She blended with the herd

Although that one discolored spot on her stomach remained

She yearned for validation from the forests

Despite being drenched in the sea

She wanted to be a part of something,

Something

Be something,

Anything

Yet she was nothing,

Nothing.
