In Light of Lost Sight
stare into a bright abyss
the roots of shadowed memories are dismissed
fingertips laced with a glistening cry
as bright as the largest eye in our sky
silky cloth hued in blue
veiled shimmering rays of truth
of which I already knew
her rays breathe a sigh of warmth
whispering buds of refuge to be born
her iris plants verdant fields of promise
where thorns won’t hurt out of habit
her pupil a lake of forgotten rhymes
echoed louder across the sanded time
convinced petals were meant to be taken
rays of comfort I’d mistaken
mesmerized by the largest star in our sky
yet, stare into into her gaze for long
And what blindness will become of your eye
