A Better Version of Me
I wish to live
Vicariously
Through the big eyes
Of someone new
I wish to walk
Through itchy green fields
With grass up to my knees
In a body that isn’t mine
I wish to touch
and feel the warmth of all things
The ground, the sky, and the trees
With altered fingertips
And with my new form
My old one will dissolve in
Or sink to the very bottom of
The deep blue unforgiving sea

This poem is just about wanting to be someone else or at least escape the troubles of your own life. I feel because of social media my own feelings of wanting to live other people’s lives throughout my adolescence has been intensified beyond what it might’ve been had I never downloaded instagram.
