I am alive

A living being with emotions

Yet people seem to stampede past those emotions

Past what makes you alive.

People tend to move fast

Like they are running through life

They look past what is important

What has meaning

They see only what's right in front of them

The clear picture

But what about behind the frame of the pretty picture?

The frame cuts off anything that doesn't want to be seen

Looks only at the beauty

A framed picture is closed in on perfection

It cuts off the long way in life.

I want to take the long way.

That shortcut gives me no interest.

Boring roads with the path right in front of you…

I will cut through the trees and into something beautiful,

The nature,

The sun beaming through the leaves of a tree warming your heart.

There may be thorns

Something can catch you off guard

Something can hold you back

Tie you down

Push you around

But that's part of something real

Something without the shortcuts

The long route.

Experiences.

Ups and downs.

That's what makes someone alive.

That's the beauty in life, the pain that's behind it.

Have you truly lived if you haven’t experienced pain?

The author's comments:

This piece takes in the fact that going through life isn't always easy but thats the only way you can actually live it. You should experience the pain in living in order to truly understand what make the good days so good. I feel like I personally have been through a lot in life but I like trying to see ways that that is a good thing and not make every day bad just because of one experience.
