Favorite Quote:
“Picture a wave. In the ocean. You can see it, measure it, its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. And it's there. And you can see it, you know what it is. It's a wave.

And then it crashes in the shore and it's gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while. You know it's one conception of death for Buddhists: the wave returns to the ocean, where it came from and where it's supposed to be."
-The Good Place

If I am filled with childlike wonder,

if I smile just like a newborn baby,

why can’t I be cradled

and held so softly

as I once was?

No longer congratulated for walking on two legs,

I am left to crawl towards greater achievements,

aged only by the world’s expectations,

and at night I sing myself a lullaby.

The author's comments:

Sometimes I realize just how fragile and childish I can be, and I don’t mean that in a negative way. This is a poem for those moments. I think it’s important to realize that it’s impractical to expect to behave and be treated as an adult all the time. You’re allowed to care for yourself as you would a child.
