Little Green Frogs
Little green frogs
on the lily pads hop
bathing in the sun
without a worry in their heads.
Splish splash splosh—
the sound ripples on the clear blue water
as the frogs engulf themselves
in bliss.
Little black eyes
atop flat heads blink
in the sun that glimmers
off the crystalline water.
The frogs don’t have problems.
They don’t have a plan to their day
or a reputation to keep.
They befriend the fish
welcome the salamanders
and never judge a soul.
I wish I could join the frogs
in their lighthearted world
but here I gaze onto the pond
and know that I can dance
with them only in my dreams.
