Synesthesia
You dive suddenly through the mirror into my reflection,
the ripples of your wake echo lost words.
Swirling strands of grey drain the room of oxygen,
and the past fades into shapes of polaroids.
The bright colors that highlight my steps,
Suddenly pierce cold, an uncomfortable pain.
Drenched in my clothes in a storm is the smell of a familiar coffee.
I blindly tiptoe through the valley of the unknown,
finding new flavors that loosen my blindfold.
Finally I pull it off myself, and suddenly quiet guitar chords strum new paths.
Fuzzy figures become clear playing new favorite songs,
and the future shapes into infectious smiles of kept promises.
The warmth of a glowing bonfire glows a becoming familiarity,
and as I look into the growing flame, I see my reflection sweetly smile.
