Thousands of grains, like stars illuminating the night sky,
splashing into a steamy bath.
Moisture being returned to the once dry, crusted specks,
preparing themselves to be devoured.
It feels like an eternity,
patiently waiting for an assuring ding.
My stomach aches and howls at me,
begging to be nourished.
I observe the timer ticking down meticulously,
praying for deliverance.
A ringing melody resonates throughout the kitchen,
and a mischievous grin forms on my face.
