I’m from feeding stray cats.

I’m from the smell of peppermint coursing through your body

I’m from big meals

And even bigger hair

I’m from ‘Over dressing”

Putting on my jewelry just to go get gas

Or wearing heels just to go to summer camp

I’m from overachieving.

Working all night on something that could really take 15 minutes

Or Doing 11 pages on a project instead of 10

just to be extra.

I’m from reversable belts and miss-match socks

I’m from books

On book, on books, on books.

From writing until my hands cramp up

And reading until my brain stops processing the words

I’m from brothers That love me so much

I’m from a sister, who is far out of touch.

I’m from “Say dislike”

“But never say hate cuz that words too strong”

And I’m from hair products

That are too much money

I’m from pop-up shops and volunteer work

From popping joints

And popping oil

I’m from small businesses

And even smaller crowds

I’m from “I don’t like loud noises”

And “turn off that bright light”

I’m also from my room

Quiet, quaint

Cluttered and full.

But It’s where I’m from.

I’m from right here.
