Our Stars
A thousand stars in the sky, watch us fall in love.
They sparkle and they whisper as they look down from above.
The starlight glows upon you.
Reflects the surface of your skin.
I ask the stars to release me from the trance they hold me in.
But maybe people just look better, under the light of a thousand stars.
Maybe the lighting tricked me, into thinking we’d make it this far.
I no longer look up at the star lit sky and smile or reminisce.
All my memories of you are tainted and my lips, burnt from your kiss.
These stars now haunt me, burn and taunt me.
Your face is reflected in each one.
These stars that have once twinkled, now burn with heat of a thousand suns.
But maybe one day
all of these stars,
will simply just be stars.
Simple specks, miles away, glowing from a far.
Simple specks that just happen to poke through the black canvas of the night.
Little specks in a dark black sky, sparkling with light.
Maybe one day
you will just be another guy.
Another guy who didn’t realize what he had, till he had to watch her fly.
And maybe one day the scars you left, will simply just be scars.
And maybe one day all our stars, will simply just be stars.
