Welcome to America, the land of the free

It was built perfectly for you and for me

There are mountains and beaches, forests full of pines

But not much care about homes below the poverty line

There are people of all different colors and types

But the ones who aren’t white are still obliged to fight

Not long ago, women had a choice

But overturning Roe. V. Wade has taken away their voice

In America, we all gain independence 

But all types of people and genders still need acceptance

We immigrate to America so it won’t be as hard

But so many of us are still waiting for our green cards

Children and teens are given the opportunity to go to school and have fun

But there is no end to the police and their guns

People are dying every day and night 

And still, we cannot find the goodness in our hearts to do what is right

Welcome to America, the land of the free
