Sirens in the Distance
I’m in the back seat of a car,
Flying down the highway.
ZOOM
ZOOM
ZOOM
Looking out the window,
The cars in sync,
The trees blurred together,
The world comes to a halt.
The screech of the tires swerving
Is deafening,
But quiet.
The seat belt tenses up
As I fly forward.
It digs into my neck,
Making it hard to breathe.
My head is pounding,
As it slams against the seat.
My mind is empty,
As the car spins out of control.
SMASH!!
My body goes limp,
Paralyzed from the hit.
Everything goes black,
I can’t see a thing.
I hear sirens in the distance,
But what if it’s too late?
