"I desire the things that will destroy me in the end."- Sylvia Plath

An apple tree starts off as a seed

Then you plant it and watch it grow

Their leaves fall and have to be cleaned

But it makes something beautiful and it shows

A Ruby red apple comes from a branch

You look at what the tree made

And take it into your hands

You walk away and the tree fades

The tree stays in place

Watching as you walk away

The tree can’t even make a sad face

As the sun goes down ending the day

Imagine the trees pain

As we take away something they made

And it is us who they blame

For they keep their emotions tamed

Just like a mother

Who went through it all

Just to look at her brother

Who now watches her ball

The only difference between the two

Is that a tree will always grow more

But the mother gets attached like glue

And it is a pain that stays in her core

Making her not wanting anymore

Hi my name is Kayla Biggica and I am 15 years old. I wrote this poem about a mother losing her child and how that can affect anyone in many ways.
