red
January 18, 2022
as i carve
deeper and deeper
into my skin,
i tell myself,
“i am so sorry
for being this hard on you.”
why do i continue
to hate myself
until i can see red?

growing up, i wasn't diagnosed with Bilpolar Depression until 10th grade. in middle school and the beginning of highschool, my emotions confused me. i could never understand them, and i usually took that confusion out onto myself. "red" means a lot to me because it's extremely personal to my life and how i grew up. society tends to "hide" the darker sides of mental health, but my ultimate goal is to show the world, and younger teens, that it's okay to have struggles. they shouldn't be shamed or hidden, no matter how bad these struggles can be.
