Nobody Notices
I hear school kids singing, the different sights I see,
The students rising, waking up for a great day,
Students sacrificing for sports smiling,
Star students being applauded,
But behind the scenes,
There is so much more.
The kids getting up after only four hours of sleep,
The athletes running for making human mistakes,
“Star students” cry because they try to fly but fall from the sky,
The student giving up because geometry makes no sense,
Depression taking over,
But nonetheless, I hear school kids singing.
Each singing with fake smiles on their faces,
Singing about how their lives are “so great.”

This piece shows how people aren't really seeing the entire picture when they think of school. They only think about the good things, and automatically assume that school can only help you. Education is good, of course, but the way that we are being educated in the school system is actually hurting a lot of us.
