They Say
“It’s just a dumb game,” they say.
“It’s just a stupid stream,” they say.
Little do they know, these weird things help take away the pain.
“Why do you never read anymore?” they ask.
“What happened to the girl who used to be so gifted?” they ask.
Little do they know, those things were just an act, to which I put up a mask.
“You never act like you are happy anymore,” they tell me.
“You are so weird,” they tell me.
Little do they know, my happiness is somewhere else, where I’m a girl called bumblebee.
“You are just so annoying,” they declare.
“I see why nobody likes you,” they declare.
Little do they know, I want life back to the way it was; not for their little prayers.
“Why does she act so childish,” they wonder.
“Why doesn’t she just grow up,” they wonder.
Little do they know, I sometimes think that I’m just a big blunder.
Nothing that they say,
Could ever take away my love for camp, writing, and broadway.
I will not let their words have any effect,
Their words will never hurt me from now on; I won’t let them sting and infect.
I am me, no matter what they say;
I will do whatever I want to in my own way.
