Do you see me?
Do you see me?
When someone says my name
Do you hear weird and strange
Or popular and cool
Do you see me?
When you talk to me how am I perceived?
Maybe standoffish or rude
Maybe cold and judgmental
Do you see me?
When youre my friend, what do you think of me?
Maybe funny and outgoing
Maybe a sad sob story.
Do you see me?
When my name comes up on a long list at school.
A lot of moving and drug records, okay that's cool,
So they assume I'm bad right?
Right? Wrong.
Do I see me?
When someone says my name I wonder who I am.
My parents don't even know me, man.
They are gone I don't know where they are
Probably doing coke or meth somewhere across the yard
Do I see me?
Trust, something I don't do easily
Maybe if I had love it would be breezy
Laughter, what a wonderful sound
Might be nice if my brother was around
Do I see me?
16 different birthdays I spent sad and alone
So i'm sorry for the hurt that comes from my home
School, is easy when you have family, money and a place to live
Ever sign your own self up for school I sure did
Does anyone see me?
Drugs, a bad way to get through
But I do
I raised myself that's right
I tuck my own self in bed at night.
Court cases
Druggie places
Drunk tears and sad ears
Broken glass and gun fights
Maybe thats why im always in fright
I guess the question is
Now do you see me?

There is always a story, behind every person. Sometimes we judge without knowing the dificulties of others. Its time we start looking deaper into the people we surround ourselves with.
This is a true story about my best friends life and what she deals with on a daily basis. She doesnt have the words to express herself. So I wrote her story for her, I am her voice.
