Just Sometimes
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, when I hear your beats,
my heart combusts. Bursting into countless fragments: roaming, rushing, and forming a whirlwind.
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, when I smell love in your breath,
I feel as if I inhaled dolomite.
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, when you bring me those roses,
I see them as manicured ferns or fungi.
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, when you pray for me,
I see you praying for my death.
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, when you bring pieces of cotton to touch me,
I feel my cheeks getting burned from the hot water you dipped them into.
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, when your footprints appear on my doormat,
I realize how sad, sad cracks they have grown.
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, all my "sometimes" grow into forever.
And the pain which it leaves me, I use it as a strength to write poetry.
Sometimes,
Just sometimes, your pain makes my cheekbones work a little to make: a smile.
