My carefree holiday

I took Death's hand,
and our journey began
We travelled together to a distant land
The land where the darkness meets the light,
a land so great, a land so bright
Covered by trees and great plains too,
a place where happiness is all you knew
I took Death's hand,
and we travelled afar,
to a sandy beach,
water seaping like an open scar
The sun was luminous, smiling bright,
a place where there is no night
My feet touched the sandy shores,
and my problems, forever I could ignore
I took Death's hand,
for it was the end,
and I guess,
Death is my only friend
