Lastavica
I am here! I am here!
Take a single step with your mind.
Let it fly on its unseen wings,
For it is too far for your feet to go.
Those who have flown with the Lastavica,
They are ministers to the world.
Angels walk among us.
They fly with unseen wings.
I am here! I am here!
Let your mind soar as the Lastavica,
And partake of the joys therein.
This poem was inspired by Michael O'Brien's novel Island of the World. "Lastavica" is the Croatian word for the "Swallow". In the book, the swallows have gifts to give, and, when touched by one, you are given the responsibility to help others.
