Grown Ups
Now you’re playing grown ups,
Smoking cigarettes,
Drinking from the bottleneck.
I ask: “stay safe?”
You tell me to chill out,
You say we’re grown ups now.
Only yesterday, you blushed
As I took your hand.
Today, you count girls on your fingers
Like days of the week.
Now you’re playing grown ups,
You’re not my punk rocker anymore
You’ve dyed your hair,
And wearing that hot white t-shirt.
Will you remember me?
whom you’ve grown up overnight with.
Trying to surprise me,
But you ain’t doing it right,
And that is when I see,
The child in your eyes.
We’re not grown ups yet.
