Amateur Painter MAG
She whispers in pink whispers.
He talks in deep ocean blues.
On the surface the yellow sun shines;
Beneath there is murky gray.
They had felt deep reds for each other
on a previous canvas.
However, it seems that both these painters
again lost their focus.
They had struggled with each other;
the palates were complete opposites.
They’d forgotten about the color wheel.
They didn’t pay close attention to what the other wanted.
They washed the palettes and cleaned the brushes;
they tried to start anew.
They pulled out fresh paint in different hues.
Except that somewhere along the way
things got off track.
Neither of them wanted to put their colors back.
Pale green doesn’t go with deep red.
Soft yellow doesn’t make fluorescent pink.
They tried to start over so many times before,
They had stained the once white sink.
Oils won’t mix with waters.
Pastels don’t match bold, bright colors.
They both sighed, turned to each other and said,
“This just isn’t working out;
let’s both try different canvases instead.”
