Turning 21
It feels weird becoming an adult
Like being launched from a catapult
Over a large distance
Which can’t be turned back by Resistance
So, on my birthday, I didn’t ask for
Gifts or presents; as I’ve had before
In the past
Just had a simple meal
Of pizza; a food that’s ideal
A yellow, cheese-filled surface
Stippled with toppings of flavorable purpose
After, there was
Carrot cake; that withdraws
Everyone, except for me
I don’t think’s it’s very tasty
Despite the yellow, crumbly coloring
With brown, dulce de leche sauce hovering
Over it
