Moving Away
It is sad to move away
From a house you always thought you’d stay
Negotiations; financial decisions have been made
Now, it’s time for the present house to fade
Big brown boxes pile up in my room
Their surface closed; entrapping any fumes
Of books, clothing, stuffed animals
Concealing many valuables
My hands constantly fold and refold
Skimming across the clothes’ fabrics; turned cold
From the frost-ridden weather
Puncturing my body through my thin sweater
A couple weeks pass; I know I’d have to leave
To leave friends I’ve known; places I’ve been
But, moving provides new beginnings to thrive again
