Midnight River
black ripples in the endless flow
screaming symphony of wordless water
moonlight gleaming on crests
moonlights shadows dancing on troughs
running eternally screaming forever
running from what?
screaming for what?
trying to snatch you
trying to drag you into its choking black depths
trying to steal your screams for its own
trying to take your life to hasten its run
trying to lure you into the calm cacophony
trying to lie to you with its glow
trying to tear away the quiet island
trying to end the shores that give you sanctuary
trying to be beautiful and quiet while trying to wail in deadly agony
river of lies to trap you away
the Midnight River
