A Short Time in Paradise
Spring break of 2019,
My best friend and I adventured to Florida
The sunsets each night
Dazzling like fluffy cotton candy in the sky,
And the vigorous sound of the waves sang in my ears
We soaked up the sun everyday,
Feeling the warmth touch my skin.
The chilled taste of ice cream danced on my tastebuds
Warm sand brushing against my feet as I strut down the beach
Looking out on the water
Watching people play,
We were in paradise
Staring off the balcony at the horizon line
Pink, Orange, Yellow
Painted across the sky
Gazing at the stars each night
Trotting down the beach collecting shells and looking for crabs
It was soon coming to an end
All the adventures
All the people
All the smiles
All the salty smells
And soon we would have to go back to reality
The time came
Tears rolled down our cheeks
It was time to leave our happiness
No more sand
No more sun
No more soft serve
This is home
