Little...black...girl
Little black girl
Run and touch the sun
It’s gonna leave a big scar
But so is the earths soil that you walk upon
Down here they’ll pull out your insecurities
And let white women make them into purer things
Down here in this hell
Darling we are the real minorities
We'll never know true love without spite
Not even our own mothers know how to love us right
She has every intention to belittle you
But don’t you dare say that she offended you
On your behalf that’s disrespectful now
She gave you your god given rights
So she owns you, your dreams, and yo life
Little compliant black girl
Don’t lose yourself over that man
No matter what game he plays
It’s always an extra card in his hand
Another way for him to advance
And another woman that he’d choose over you
Without even slightly raising his head
Little irrelevant
Unnecessary
black girl
They don’t care about your tears
And those pretty little fears
They pay no mind to hear
You’re the least of their worries
No use in trying to express how you feel
Anytime you bring up your pain
They in a rush to tell you that it ain’t real
Little unworthy unproductive black girl
Why don’t you go do something with yourself
You’re below average compared to your sisters
In looks, knowledge, and wealth
And yeah you try but does it really matter
They tell you that your getting nowhere
Let everything you worked for shatter
Little naive black girl
You don’t even attempt to think for yourself
Think you know it all
But you speaking the ideas of somebody else
Little angry black girl
Can’t you see that you’re unprotected
Show the most respect
just to be disrespected
You keep your cool
Realign your peace
Cause at the end of the day you know
They can’t see what you see
Little beautiful black girl
They aren’t going to acknowledge all that you do
You know who you are
Don’t let them put you in some shoes
Capture your own stars
And live in your reality
The world gone really hate you now
You got that strong mentality
Little happy black girl
I see you
praying, hoping, dying, wishing
Little black girl dying with too much intuition
A waste of ambition
Sitting all casket pretty
I guess they think that image of you is fittin

This piece that I wrote was inspired by my life and the ways in which I interpret love and affection from those around me. It is a reflection of how people view me as a person without truly knowing me. I hope to help people better see the perspective of the out of the ordinary black girl who went against social norms and tried to make her life into the one she never thought she would be able to achieve.
