-Mark Twain, "Pudd'nHead Wilson"

I worry that this sore throat

Will last forever

And I’ll recite my wedding vows

In a raspy new normal

I worry that my hair is falling out

With no signs of stopping

And I’ll be left with a head clear enough

To fry an egg on

I worry that the thing under my bed

Just wants to be friends

And I’ve been rough on the fellow

Poor thing

I worry that I’ll look in the mirror

In an unwise night

And I’ll see something

That doesn’t like me either

I worry that the world is ending slow

But then I know it’s ending fast

I wonder: will we ever reach a point

Not worth losing?
