Prove Them Wrong
A short saying.
Yet something to inspire many,
Letting them go on and on
And on.
Until eventually,
They can
Prove Them Wrong.
Evolution only happened because of challenges,
People needing to get better
Until they can succeed.
Until life can
Prove Them Wrong.
You could say all life,
Well, at least most of it,
Is based on this phrase.
Needing to prove something wrong,
Whether it was all laws of nature,
Or just simply themselves.
Everyday,
Everyone,
Is proving something wrong.
Prove.
A simple action,
To just show someone something
And yet,
Can be one of the hardest things to do.
It can be proving that cats are better than dogs,
Or that you are valid.
For me, it’s almost always been the second.
To put it easily,
I’m different.
Non-bianary,
Gay,
Just queer.
Throughout my life,
I’ve had to fight.
To prove.
To prove that I can be accepted by you.
And by me.
Sometimes,
Accepting myself has been the harder part.
Knowing that I may never fit in.
Knowing that somewhere,
There are people who think I
Shouldn’t exist.
But anyway,
That leads me to
Them.
Who are they?
For me,
They’re anyone.
The word by itself
Isn’t that bad.
Just a person.
And yet,
Like many other things in life,
When paired with others,
Becomes a great challenge.
Prove them wrong.
Pits you against them.
Shows that you have to fight them.
You have to prove them wrong.
But,
What if it doesn’t have to be that way?
What if you can befriend them,
Let them understand you,
And you understand them?
Oftentimes,
The oppressed becomes
The oppressor,
Getting so fuel up with rage
That they can’t even see what
They are doing to the other.
Wrong
What if this whole phrase is wrong?
While rage has it’s uses,
What if peace is stronger?
What if there are better ways
Of going about this?
Humans fight and fight,
Desperate to
Prove Them Wrong,
But what if
There is no gain?
What if proving them wrong,
Even though
We wouldn’t exist without it,
Truly,
Ends in despair?
If that’s true,
There’s still a few questions:
How can we grow,
Get better?
How can we live
Knowing that this eternal philosophy,
Could just be false?
What if we
Are trying to prove someone wrong,
While all we need to do,
Is find out we can just
All agree with each other?
Proving people wrong
Has created a tornado of hate
For each other.
A sense that we need to be greater,
To show the other that we can overcome them.
But really,
The solution is much simpler:
Love.
