Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time to thank God for blessings
No long stressings
In our lives
The way we thrive
Pale, pink turkey sliced out like wood
Set on a round platter, daring me to eat it; if I should
The turkey’s coating remains browned and golden
Freshly clean; not molden
Green beans sprinkle across my plate
In a protruding rate
Sweet, savory smells fill in the kitchen
Tickling across the living room and hall; enrichen
Once seated, the family bow heads and pray
Thanking God for his way
Towards them and friends
The thankfulness never ends
The plates are cleared; the food eaten
My body slouches, as if beaten,
Into the living room sofa
