Nebulous
Deep into the pastel night sky
My eyes, wide and wanton, peered
In search of a star
That I could wish upon
Then blinking, blinking,
Through the clouds
Came a twinkle of light
My heart leaped up inside of me
I closed my eyes and wished my wish
And came my eyes fluttering open
The star had floated through the cloudscape
There, in the soft clouds, the soft pillowy pink clouds--
I saw the truth
Much to my dismay
I am sorry to say
The twinkling was only
The cold, mechanical lights of a plane
