Anxiety is my Shadow
Good Morning Shadow, what shape will you hold today?
Shadow trails behind me
Hissing swirls of its gifts into my ear
You pull at my skin
Surround every inch of my bones
Sometimes they rattle, to let me know
I’m never alone
You ricochet in my head
And twist around my eyes
You sit in my stomach
And scratch at the sides
At times I watch you
Reach to my throat
And clasp my windpipe
You won’t let me float
I look forward
But you yank me back
I am forced to trudge
Dragging this cape of black
At night the dark is everywhere, and the shadow grows
