A Tribute To My Best Friend
It’s been a while,
So long that your face has faded from my memory,
And the memories have faded from existence.
It’s been years since we spoke,
But seconds since I thought of you.
I guess I should pay a tribute to us -
Nine years to build us and one choice to tear us down.
I hope you have a better life with Him
Than you ever did with me.
So I guess this is me telling you that I’m sorry
For all the stress I put you through,
For all the fights we had in all caps,
For all the words left unspoken, all the secrets that I kept,
And our connection that I broke.
Because it’s been three years and I still love you -
My sister,
My soul mate,
My best friend.
