New Youth
The death of each generation
Springs new life
The past left to wither in the past
To be read by the new youth
All that came before us
Hiding within the crevices of history
The marks of distant humanity
Tracing every inch of our skin
The fragments of our identities
Snapping together to construct our DNA
Our souls, alive or deceased
Leave a trail between the past and present
Each second that we thrive and perish
The further we distance ourselves from the past
The closer we are to the future
The anachronisms of our relatives
Are the coarse remnants of the past
And the possessions of the new youth
Will become anachronisms
For the generations to follow.
