what(not) to look for in the sky
do not look for the rain,
the rain will find you
drench you
erode your strength
dissolve any smiles you have left
pierce your sodden skin
some more.
do not look for the hail
the hail will then find you
clump in your hair
chill your will
color your body with bruises
freeze your tears
and your hope.
do not look for the gales
they will
whip your body hard
shove away the good
shepherd in the bad
snap at your skin
strip you of your
dreams desires joy.
but look for the sun
everywhere.
amidst the raindrops
in the hail
stowed away behind
clouds during storms
hidden by dusty gales.
reach out for it a little more
every single day.
bask in its light
it dries your rain-wetted skin
melts the ice in your hair
fills in the emptiness left by the gales
with warmth.
