Requiem for Innocence
Where have the foolish children gone?
The frivolous girls,
Blinded by vanity?
The dark-eyed boys,
Blinded by desire?
Have they lost the adoration
That they once had
For the pale blossoms of summer,
The whims of childhood?
Or have they lived too long
For their eyes to gaze upon beauty
As it stands in plain sight?
