The Rooftop
The bird flies away as I climb the ladder
The cars drive past without stopping
I can see everything more clearly
From up on top of the roof
The children down the street play and yell, having fun
and I hear Christmas music from a house
They cannot disturb me; I simply enjoy
Being on top of the roof
I feel the wind, blowing without stopping
And I lose my cares to it
I lean back and sigh doing nothing but
Relaxing on top of the roof
I know that it’s been half an hour
And I’ll have to get down soon
There are things to do, but I cannot wait
until I can get back on top of the roof
