Letting Go
I stretched out my limbs for you.
Painfully, they strecthed to the sky.
I tried so very hard to lift you from the ground
To raise you up
So that you would feel the breeze.
So that your tears would dry
From the Sun's providing and motherly warmth.
But you couldn't do it.
You fell hopelessly to the ground
Gliding on a solemn melody the wind carried.
Letting your sadness drag you down
You landed softly with a thud on the dirt.
And you told yourself: "Back from whence you came".
And I just stared.
Knowing that I couldn't move from my tableau.
I just stared.
Crying.
I stared.
I didn't want this to happen.
Please believe that.
You chose to let go.
You let the space separate us.
So now
I must stop crying.
But I cannot rush the grief process.
I do not like letting go.
But
I
Must
Let
Go
