Remember
Burning reminders of your voice leak down my tender flesh,
Searing scars into my flushed skin
Each fiery tear filled with raw hurt.
I close my eyes and I hear you whisper,
“I don’t know who you are anymore”
Every cold consonant pierces my vulnerable heart.
My pillow whispers back,
“I’m your best friend”
Ten years of euphoria gone with the winds of change,
Tossed over your shoulder nonchalantly.
My walls tell me,
“She knows”
“She knows what she’s doing to you”
We had plans-
Plans to see the world,
To experience earth together.
I grasp onto every promise we’ve made,
Hoping
Begging
Praying
That they meant something to you, too
That they mean something now.
