"maybe i split off,
went bad in the head;
maybe they bred me like that," i once said
to the suffering soul i found in the mirror.
she'd asked me why i forced her here.
her lips
bled.
her smile
hurt.
and i think it was that something in her face
echoed my soul.
we cried
and cried
a sea of salt,
and i met this girl
in the only place we could
find
together.
it was something understood;
maybe she too had gone bad in the head,
or maybe they'd bred us like that
instead.
