Yeah, so she doesn't speak very often,

the way you do. At times, it's like

she never learnt know how to build words

with her voice. But it's not because

she has nothing to say. You try talking

when your mind doesn't allow it.

Cause everytime she opens her mouth,

the lid on a can of memories pops off, too.

The time she was spat at for what she spoke.

The time she was shooed away for what she said.

The time she was laughed at for singing out words.

The time she was abandoned for speaking her heart.

All those times from the past,

they take over the present.

The pain, the shame,

the regret, the trauma,

they take over her.

Yeah, so she doesn't speak very often.

Not because she has nothing to say,

but because

she once had too much to say,

and too less wanted to listen.

Hello~! This is my first submission to Teen Ink. I'm an 02' liner and I've been writing since the sixth grade. I haven't made much progress since then, but I did learn, over time, that writing is the only way I can feel, express and create. That way, it forms a big part of my life. I write fiction and poetry, and I have a liking for portraying emotion and little details. I take pride in being able to escape reality through the words I write, though, some times, I confront it by means of my writing. I'm a huge fan of korean music, asian streetstyle, aesthetic music videos, artsy stuff, art journals and grey skies. Apart from writing, I draw, try to rap, play the guitar, make journal spreads, try to make videos, and manage my blog.

Sometimes, the people who don't talk much might be like that, owing to a whole bunch of reasons, and not just because they're awkward, or because they hate all human beings. I wrote this to challenge such stereotypes. I hope you enjoy reading it. Thank you~
