Wrangling Snakes
He’s different: a strange version
of a sympathetic psychopathic killer.
He is the wind; a brutal beating that
goes unmatched, always unfamiliar.
Out in the corral: in hand, the crackling
of the electric whip beginning to tangle
around those slithering snakes,
the ones he’s always wrangling.
Unlike St. Patrick, who is found
stomping snakes, snapping
heads like toothpicks, the boy
just sits and throws his rope.
