The Drug Worth Taking
is a falsehood in itself.
It reddens your veins
from wasting your blood;
it takes someone strong
and brings them to their knees;
it paints the world red
until it all goes pitch black;
it steals away your God
and massacres your mind;
it criminalizes a soul
that never wanted a smoke;
it makes a shy person
bashfully begin to lose hope;
it lies and manipulates
whoever agrees to submit;
it draws and quarters
the innocent young fool;
it summons tears until
you’re insane from the aching;
it lets you cough every
drop of blood onto the floor;
it cannot be drank away
like most of your maladies;
yet I loved it so much
I want you to live better than me.

This piece was just another hard one to write, becuase, to put it simply, it's about love and pain. It addresses someone who I suppose I want nothing for except happiness, in hopes that by the time he reaches my age he hasn't had to go through the same things I did. That's about all I can say, so I hope everyone can learn that love is not something that treats people lightly. Thank you!
