I plucked the petals off the flower too fast,

but that didn’t seem to phase you.

I tore my heart into pieces to patch yours,

but you decided to bleed anyway.

I threw myself in front of the bullet for you,

but you then befriended the gunman.

I starved myself to make sure you had food,

but you wasted it and let me starve.

I told you everything I felt, deeply ashamed,

but you cut  me where you left off.

I trusted you and shared more than secrets,

but you only cared about yourself,

but I learned from my mistakes and rose up.

I learned to fly when I couldn’t walk,

but I know I can fly higher than I already am.

I remembered how it feels to breathe,

but I can’t say the air gets clearer over time.

I know that I can be the strong person I see,

but I want to believe that I’ll rise up to the occasion.

I know you were toxic and fatal to me,

but I just loved the electricity sparked by love.
