What more could you want?
“What more could you want?”
This question came up,
Innocent enough.
“Gay marriage is legal,
What more Could you need?”
But damn ignorant too.
“What more could you want?”
Members of the LGBT community can be
Fired
Evicted
Denied service
Denied medical care
Denied our basic human rights,
Simply because of who we are.
But I can get married
So it must be okay!
“What more could you want?”
What I want?
I want to enter the world,
And be on my own,
Without worrying about losing opportunities
Because of something as simple as my sexuality.
I want to lie in bed at night,
Confident that I won't spontaneously be evicted,
Because the wrong person found out that I may choose to be with a female.
What I want,
Is what any other human being would want,
Protection by the government.
I want to live my life to the fullest,
Unafraid of legal discrimination.
Not just to get married.
“What more could you want?”
What I want, is what every human deserves.
What I want is equality.
