Time and Things
Money, things, and things
Why do we spend so much of our time focused on things?
Our precious, precious time
Our precious time washed away
It's a river of time
That is going so fast,
Crashing into rocks and trees.
Taking all of our hopes and dreams.
We will never catch up.
However, instead, we will waste
We will waste the time we have.
We will waste our time with useless things:
Buying clothes we will only wear once,
We spend our time wanting other peoples things
Why can’t we ever be happy
Why can’t we ever be content
with our things we have
We have a family,
We have friends.
Why do we need all of these worthless things?

Recently, someone at my school passed away. I didn't know her, I talked to her maybe twice, but it got me thinking: why do we invest so much of our time on things that don't even matter. We aren't able to take the nice clothes we have, the jewelry, or any of the things we have on Earth with us when we die, so why do we obsess ourselves with having the best of everything. When all we can take with us is what we have learned and hope to see our families and friends again on the other side. This is something that has been on my mind a lot lately and I hope that this will get you thinking about how you are spending your time.
