Endurance Gets The Gold
When the gun goes off it all begins;-
pushing and shoving to get to the front.
The first mile is won by speed,
the second is won on competitiveness,
and the third is won by endurance.
In pursuit of the first mile marker,
awaiting to hear Ava yell my first mile time.
Closing in you hear the yelling screaming of times,
each manager yelling times to their runners.
The fastest one reaching the marker first.
Competitiveness wins the second mile,
trying to stay with the runner adjacent to them.
The mile intervals start to kick in,
trying to get ahead of their opponent.
Competitiveness conquers the second mile.Awaiting the third mile to begin.
The finish line nears and the runners appear,
looking to finish the third mile.
The long butterflied Butterflied runs come into effect,
giving the runner a second wind.
Endurance gets the gold.
