Subtle Hints
She peers at me through her sable lashes,
Seeing an admiring smile and warm eyes
But she’ll never see my soul
The way I long to see hers.
Her radiant smile is ever-present
And her cooing voice echoes through my head
Yet she may never notice how I look to her
After every joke I make
To watch how she reacts.
She may never understand
How I think of our past and future conversations
As I lay restless in my bed.
She may never comprehend
That my feelings for her are more than friendship,
That someone could see her for the glowing presence within her heart,
That maybe I don’t act upon my urges
Because I’m afraid
You may never understand.
