Treetopia
If you ever walk down Cedar Road
and find yourself strolling past a dusty orange house
with bricks of burning amber
and a roof filled with charcoal,
the first thing that will catch your eye
will be the long sidewalk that extends far into the backyard.
If you, by chance, happen to travel down to the end of this very same sidewalk,
You will find an ancient, forgotten lawn chair
That has been left behind and abandoned.
Behind the lawn chair,
you’ll find a long fence that has been rusted by time,
and bent forwards in an odd stair-like fashion.
If you ever find yourself climbing over that fence,
you’ll find a miniature forest filled with
tangles of stretched branches and barbed pines, good for cutting skin,
and drawing blood from your hands.
With low nooks for sleeping and high up climbing bars,
this is a paradise for adventurers
If you close your eyes,
you can almost imagine small children living in this hidden magical fortress,
or traversing this dark and unruly jungle.
You can feel the wind ruffle your hair
Carrying the echoed laughter of the children
who once played here.
